Inside Our Earth

Q. Explain the work of rock cycle.
Ans. The change of one type of rock into another type under certain conditions in a cyclic manner is know as the rock cycle. The rock cycle has neither a beginning nor an end.In this process, the matter of the earth's crust is not lost. The rock operates in the following ways.
a. The hot and molten magma forms igneous rocks on cooling. b.This igneous rocks are exposed to different agents of weathering and erosion on the earth surface.
c. The broken rock fragments, when transported and deposited in basils, form sedimentary rocks.
d. The leftover igneous rocks and the newly formed sedimentary rocks are subjected to instance heat and pressure.
e.The sedimentary and metamorphic rocks are buried again and melt to form magma.
f. The magma again cools down and forms igneous rocks.
Q. Name the main types of rocks with example of it.
Ans.  The main types of rocks are as follows:
a. Igneous rocks / granite,
b. Sedimentary rocks / coal .
c. Metamorphic rocks/marble.
Q. How are extrusive and intrusive  igneous rocks are formed?
Ans:
a.The rocks that cool below the surface of the earth are called intrusive igneous rocks.
b. The rocks that cool on the surface of the earth are called extrusive igneous rocks.
Q. How are metamorphic rocks forms?
Ans-
a. The metamorphic rocks are actually igneous and sedimentary rocks which have been changed due to excessive heat and pressure inside the earth.
b. Excessive heat and pressure can change the original properties of rocks such as their color, hardness, texture and mineral composition.
e. Such changed rocks are called metamorphic rocks.
Q. How are rocks and minerals useful to us?
Ans.
a.Ancient times rocks were used to make tools and weapons. Rocks are widely used in a the construction of roads houses and buildings.
b. Minerals like coal and petroleum provide the sources of power. Chemical found in some sedimentary rocks and are used to make fertilizers.
c. Soil is formed from rocks.
Q. What do you know about the structure of earth?
Ans. On the basis of varying density and other physical and chemical properties of rocks, the earth can be divided into three concentric layers - crust, mantle and core. This arrangement can be compared to an onion 🌰 with its layer one inside the other.
Q. What are the main characteristics of sedimentary rocks?
Ans. Sedimentary  rocks🪨 have the following characteristics:
a. This rocks 🪨  are softer than igneous rocks.
b. This rocks 🪨  have horizontal layers, arranged one above the other.
c. This rocks are mostly formed under water and have marks of webs 🕸 and mud / cracks.
d. This rocks also contains remains of animals and plants called fossils, between the layers.
c. The important  examples are sand stone, lime stone and coal.
...App..

Q. What is a rock?
Ans. A rock is a natural mass of mineral matter that makes up the earth's crust. Rocks can be different colors, Size and texture.
Q. Name the constituents of oceanic crust?
Ans. Silica and magnesium.
Q. What is the radius of the core?
Ans. The radius of the core is 3500 kilometers.
