***OUR ENVIORNMENT***
1. What is called soil erosion?
Ans:- Soil erosion is the washing off of the top layer of the Soil. Soil erosion is caused by the floods and cutting down the trees etc.
2. What is environment?
Ans:- Environment is the surrounding of the Earth where we live in. It consists of living things and nonliving  things.
3. House should be built away from factories. Do you agree? Give reasons.
Ans:- Yes, houses should be built, away from factories because dirty water from factories pollutes the nearby lakes and ponds. Smoke that come out from the factories also makes the air dirty.
4. Which causes soil erosion?
Ans:- Cutting down trees.

1. What is a family?
Ans:- A family is a unit where children live with their parents and help each other.
2. What is Joint Family?
Ans:- Joint family is a big family where children live with their parents along with their uncles, aunts, cousins and grand parents. They all help each others.

1. What is neighbourhood?
Ans:- The house and other places near my house make up my heighbourhood.
2. When do people go to hospital?
Ans:- People go to a hospital when they fall sick . Doctors and nurses help them to diagnose. 
3. Why we got to post office?
Ans:- We got to Post office to buy stamps, envelopes, postcard and other postage items. We also go to post office to deposit cash or to send money to others.
4. What is neighbourhood services?
Ans:- The park, market, Post office, School, hospital and police station in my neighbourhood are called neighbourhood services.
5. Write down two rules everyone should follow in the Park.
Ans:- The two rules which should be followed in the Park are:-
a) We should take care of trees and flowers in the Park.
b) We should not throw things in the Park.
6. Name five things that you buy from your neighbourhood market?
Ans:- The five things that you buy from your neighbourhood market are - Vegetables, Clothes, toys, Spices and fish etc.

***FUN AND GAMES***
1. Why are Fun and games are important?
Ans:- Fun and games are important because we cannot work the whole day without fun and games. It is seen after hard work enjoyment is also equally important. There is a saying all work and no play games Jack a dull boy.
2. Why is watching too much television not good for you?
Ans:- Watching too much television is harmful for eyes. So, we should not watch too much television.

***MAPS AND PLANS***
1.What is a Map? How does it help us?
Ans:- A map is used to locate a place. A map show a drawing of neighbourhood, a city, a country or also the whole country or also the whole world, some symbols, direction and landmarks are used to draw a map.

2. What do you mean Plan?
Ans:- A plan is a drawing of a room or a house as seen from high up. It is similar to a map. It also uses symbols.





****INSECTS & BIRDS****
INSECTS:-

All insects have six legs. Some of them have wings and can fly. Some of them have feelers on their heads. They can feel with them like we can feel with our hands.
Some of them such as butterfly and mosquito have pipe in their mouth instead of teeth. They suck our blood or nectar of flowers with it, like you drink cold drink with a straw.
The uninvited guests in our houses are ants, mosquitoes, houseflies or cockroaches they live in houses because they get food.

BIRDS
  • The bodies of birds are covered with feathers.
  • They have wings instead of arms.
  • They have light bodies because their bones are thin and hollow.
  • They have two legs like us.
  • They have one beak.
MAKING NESTS
  • We know that birds make nests when they have to lay their eggs.
  • Birds mostly make their nests on trees. Such as eagle.
  • But some birds make their nests on the ground also. Such as Partridge.
  • A tailor bird sews leaves to make its nests.
  • When the nest is ready the female bird lays eggs in it.
  • Either the male or the female sits on the eggs to keep them warm.
  • The baby birds grow inside the eggs.
  • In a few days the eggs break open and the baby birds come out. This is called hatching. The parents look after them and feed them till they are ready to fly out.
BEAKS OF BIRDS:-
  • Birds can not bite or chew because they have no teeth. They have different kinds of beaks that are suited to the kind of food they eat.
  • A flesh eating bird such as eagle or vulture has a strong, sharp beak shaped like a hook. It helps to tear the flesh.


  • A seed eating bird such as sparrow has a short, pointed, strong beak used to crack seeds.

  • A parrot eats seeds, nuts and fruits, it has a strong curved beak which it uses to crack nuts and seeds.
  • A woodpecker has a long, sharp beak which helps it to tap the bark of trees and pull out insects.

  • A duck has a broad, flat beak. It takes muddy water in its beak. Mud and water flow out from the edges of the beak. Plants and insects remain in the mouth and are eaten.
  • Birds like kingfishers and pelicans have long, scissor-like beaks for catching small fish.
FEATHER OF BIRDS:-

Birds have three types of Feathers
  • Flight Feather - These Feathers are used for Flying.
  • Down Feather - These feathers keep the bird warm.
  • Body Feather  -  These Cover the bodies of birds and provide shape to their bodies.
SHAPE OF BIRDS BODY:-

The Shape of Bird's body is like an aeroplane i.e. narrow in the Front and Broad in the Middle.

  •  Can you name two leaves we eat?- Answer:- Cabbage and Corriender.   
  • We also use leaves to eat on ? Can you name one such leaf? Ans:- Banana
  • We use leaves for decoration? Can you name two such leaves ? Ans:- Mango & Banyan
  • Extreme cold Damages leaves of trees.
  • Many trees Shed  their leaves in winter to protect themselves from the cold.
  • At what time of the year do a lot of leaves fall to the ground? Ans:- Spring.
  • A better way of disposing off the leaves is to make Compost for plants from them.
  • To make compost, leaves are put into deep pit in the ground, and covered with Soil. This process is known as a compost pit.
  • Compost is used by farmers and gardeners to make the soil better for plants to grow.
  • Vegetable waste from the kitchen can also be put into a Compost Pit.
  • Which of the plants has the biggest leaves? Ans:-Bannana
  • What is a compost pit?
  • Ans:- To make a compost pit we dig a deep pit in the ground and cover with soil. After a few months the leaves rot and change into compost.
  • Why is it better to dispose of fallen leaves and vegetables waste in a compost pit?
  • Ans:- Leaves and vegetables waste are turn into compost easily after a few months. This compost is used  by gardeners and farmers to make the soil better for plants to grow. So we should dispose them into compost.
  • The different parts of a leaf are as follows:-
  • Main vein- Each leaf has a tube in the middle called main vein.
  • Side vein – There are many side tubes coming from the main veins are called side veins.
  • Stomata:- The lower side of the leaf has many tiny holes are called stomata.
  • Suppose a disease strikes that kill all leaves what will be the effect of this on us?
  • Ans- If all the leaves are killed by a disease then plants will not be able to make their food. We will not get food. Leaves will also not give us Oxygen and then we can’t breath.

What are non-living things?           
Ans: Non-living things are natural things or man-made things that cannot breathe, grow or move on their own. They do not have any life in them.         
Where is glass used?
Ans: Glass is used to make things like bowls, mirrors, etc.    
From where do we get various metals?
Ans: We get various metals from deep under the soil.            
What are natural things?
Ans: Things like air, water, soil, plants, animals, etc. which are found naturally are called natural things.  
What are living things?
Ans: Living things are natural things that can breathe, grow and move on their own.
